Sharing everything

Why transparency is my secret marketing weapon. The 'Build in Public' philosophy.

Most companies are terrified of showing you what’s happening "behind the scenes." They want you to see the perfect, polished product, but they hide the messy reality of how it was built.

In IntentLabs, I do the opposite. I share everything. My failures, my bugs, my budget, and my late-night coding sessions.

And surprisingly, this is my best marketing weapon.

The Power of Radical Honesty

As a humble builder, I’m not trying to convince you that I’m perfect. I’m trying to invite you into the lab to learn with me.

  • Building Trust: When I share a bug I fixed, you see that I’m honest. When I share my 12-month roadmap, you see that I have a plan. Trust is the foundation of any premium brand.
  • Creating a Connection: People don't want to follow a faceless corporation. They want to follow a person with a vision. By using "I" instead of "we," I’m building a peer-to-peer relationship with you.
  • Reducing the "Hype": Marketing is usually full of hype. IntentLabs is full of "Field Notes." It’s practical, it’s real, and it’s much more valuable to the reader.

The "Build in Public" Loop

Every time I build a new feature, I write a note about it.

It’s a simple loop: Build -> Record -> Reflect -> Share.

This loop keeps me accountable and keeps the lab alive. It also gives me a constant stream of content that I don't have to "invent"—I just have to record what I’m already doing.

Humility as a Strategy

I don't "flex" my wins. I share them as data points in an experiment. I don't hide my losses. I share them as lessons learned.

By being a humble builder, I’m creating a brand that is resilient, transparent, and—most importantly—honest. And in a world of hype, honesty is the most premium brand of all.
